Heat recovery is the collection and re-use of heat coming from processes that would otherwise be lost.
It can be applied in building, (e.g space heating, ventilation, HVAC) or could come as part of business activity, (e.g ovens, furnaces …) . Heat recovery can reduce the overall energy consumption of the process itself, or provide useful heat for other purposes.
